Gregory L. Boso Appointed to 11th District Senate Seat

CHARLESTON – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced today that Gregory L. Boso has been appointed to fill the vacant Senate seat in the 11th District. The seat became vacant after Senator Clark Barnes resigned Wednesday to become Senate Clerk.

“I am happy to welcome Greg aboard as our newest Senator,” Senate President Bill Cole said. “He is a person with a strong work ethic and sense of community, and his experience as a job creator will make him well suited to jump right in and help us advance our goals of moving West Virginia toward a brighter future. He will be an exceptional addition to the Senate.”

Boso, a civil engineer, is the president of G.L. Boso and Associates Inc. and Boso and Boso Inc. in Summersville. His companies provide forensic and investigative engineering services to clients in West Virginia and Kentucky.

“I’m very grateful to Governor Tomblin for filling this vacancy so quickly,” Cole said. “This appointment will enable us to work as a full body right away.”

Boso and his wife Deborah live in Summersville, where he is a member and deacon of the Summersville Baptist Church and is a chaplain with the Summersville Volunteer Fire Department. He is a 1980 graduate of the West Virginia Institute of Technology. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers, and has been a field instructor at the West Virginia University Fire Service Extension.

He will be sworn in on Monday.
