Office of the Speaker of the House of Delegates

Speaker of the House

Welcome from Speaker Timothy R. Miley

The West Virginia Legislature meets in Charleston each year beginning the second Wednesday in January for 60 consecutive days - through mid-March. In the year a governor is inaugurated, the Legislature begins its work on the second Wednesday in February for 60 consecutive days. The legislative actions which occur in the capital city during these times directly affect your quality of life in West Virginia. That is why public access to legislative information is crucial.

This public site brings one of the three branches of government - the legislative branch - closer to you - the constituents, government entities and businesses - that help build and shape our state. As a Legislature, making basic legislative information quickly and easily accessible to you is an important responsibility. With a simple click of the mouse, the legislative action of the House of Delegates is brought to you. In turn, to keep informed, you can review the status of legislation, the summaries of bills or even the daily floor actions of the House. Other useful information available through this site will undoubtedly increase your understanding of the complete legislative process.

I know the public information here will be helpful as you follow the work of the House of Delegates and Legislature.

Very truly yours,
Speaker Miley
