Senator Daniel Hall Announces Resignation

CHARLESTON – Senator Daniel J. Hall, R-Wyoming, today announced he is resigning from the West Virginia State Senate, effective January 3, 2016, to accept a job as a State Liaison with the National Rifle Association, covering multiple states.

“The last nearly eight years I’ve spent serving the citizens of southern West Virginia have been eight of the best years of my life,” Senator Hall said. “It’s with mixed emotions that I leave to take this job, but I am excited about helping the NRA continue to advance Second Amendment rights for not just West Virginians, but for all Americans.”

Hall serves as Senate Majority Whip and is chairman of both the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee and Labor Committee. He was instrumental in launching West Virginia’s chapter for the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses

He was elected to the Senate in 2012. Prior to his service in the Senate, he served two terms in the West Virginia House of Delegates. He is a graduate of Liberty High School in Raleigh County, and Marshall University.

“Daniel has been a tremendous asset to the West Virginia Senate, and it’s fair to say we wouldn’t be able to look back on the accomplishments we made during our landmark 2015 session without him,” Senate President Bill Cole, R-Mercer said. “While I hate to see Daniel go, I’m very excited for this new and exciting opportunity for him, and I know he will be a wonderful representative for the NRA. Daniel is a tireless worker and a passionate advocate for the causes in which he so deeply believes, and I am certain he will be successful in his new role.”
