A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §8A-2-4a, relating to
requiring an equal number of members from each magisterial
district on county planning commissions.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §8A-2-4a, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. PLANNING COMMISSIONS.
§8A-2-4a. County planning commission members appointed in equal
numbers from each magisterial district.
(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, members of a county planning commission shall be appointed in equal
numbers from each magisterial district of the county.
(b) The membership of an existing planning commission shall
continue unchanged until the first regular meeting, after the
effective date of this section, of the county commission that
established the planning commission. At that time, any
appointments or changes necessary shall be made to bring the
membership of the existing planning commission into conformity with
this section.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require equal numbers of
members from each magisterial district on county planning
commissions.
