A BILL to amend the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §18B-2A-6, relating
to authorizing the governing board of an institution of higher
education to determine when that institution may become a
university after the institution has met the eligibility
requirements established by the higher education policy
commission
.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §18B-2A-6,
to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2A. INSTITUTIONAL BOARDS OF GOVERNORS.
§18B-2A-6. Governing boards authorized to determine when eligible
institution to become a university.
The governing boards of Concord college, Fairmont state college
, Shepherd college and West Virginia state college
, which
institutions have successfully met the eligibility requirements
established by the higher education policy commission to attain
university status, may determine when their respective institution
is ready to become a university.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize the governing
boards of Concord College, Fairmont State College
, Shepherd College
and West Virginia State College
to determine when those
institutions may become a university. Each of these institutions
has met the eligibility requirements established by the Higher
Education Policy Commission
to attain university status.
