HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 14

Recognizing rural transit providers in celebrating twenty five
years of dependable and affordable transportation to the
citizens of West Virginia.

HEREAS
, For the past twenty five years, West Virginia's rural
transit providers have provided transportation to people from all
walks of life - seniors, persons with disabilities, workers, the
transportation disadvantaged, students and commuters; and
W
HEREAS
, During these twenty five years the Federal Transit
Administration has provided the State of West Virginia with almost
forty five million dollars which has been matched with state and
local funds; and
W
HEREAS
, Carrying over one million passenger's last fiscal year
and serving twenty one counties, this program has traveled millions
of miles and brought lots of smiles; and
W
HEREAS
, These efforts in providing reliable and affordable
transportation for the citizens of West Virginia's rural areas can
not be accomplished without the dedication and assistance of rural
transit providers; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the West Virginia House of Delegates hereby recognizes
and congratulates the many individuals who provide this important
community service to the citizens of West Virginia as it celebrates
its silver anniversary; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the House of Delegates looks forward to
many more productive years of rural transit as these providers go
for the gold; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to West Virginia rural transit managers.
