HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 75

(By Delegates Anderson, Azinger, Beane, Border and Modesitt)




Requesting the Commissioner of the Division of Highways to rename the Juliana Street Bridge which crosses the Little Kanawha River at Parkersburg the "Glen Gainer, Jr. Bridge."

Whereas, Glen Gainer, Jr. of Wood County has been a leader in his community and in this state for over fifty years, having started his career of service to this state and country in the United States Navy; and
Whereas, Mr. Gainer helped shape the minds of many youth as a high school government teacher and coach; was elected mayor of the City of Parkersburg in 1969; was elected State Auditor of West Virginia in 1976 and re-elected in 1980, 1984 and 1988, serving with distinction and character; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Highways is hereby requested to rename the Juliana Street Bridge which crosses the Little Kanawha River at Parkersburg the "Glen Gainer, Jr. Bridge"
; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the commissioner is requested to have made and be placed, at either end of the bridge, signs identifying the bridge as the "Glen Gainer, Jr. Bridge."
