Charleston, WV - Senate President Jeff Kessler (D - Marshall) applauded today the bill signing of newly passed legislation creating the Herb Henderson Office of Minority Affairs.
House Bill 4015, creating the Office, will fall under the authority of the Governor’s Office and provide a forum for discussion on minority issues, make policy recommendations and award grants to minority affairs programs.
“The bill passed the Senate unanimously with funding support for an executive director and administrative assistant,” says Kessler. “The Senate remains committed to not only the establishment of the Office but its success in creating opportunities for all West Virginians.”
Senate President Kessler says he looks forward to working with Governor Tomblin to develop an office that advocates for all West Virginians. President Kessler says that through this Office West Virginia can develop jobs and empower people in the community to create a brighter future.
House Bill 4015 was signed into law by Governor Tomblin this afternoon.
