Delegate Householder To Host Tax Reform Public Hearing October 13 in Martinsburg

Delegate Eric Householder, R-Berkeley, and several Eastern Panhandle lawmakers will host a town hall-style public hearing Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Martinsburg High School to hear citizens’ ideas and comments on potential state tax reform proposals.

The forum will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Martinsburg High School Auditorium.

“We want to hear from the people about their ideas to improve the tax climate here in West Virginia,” said Householder, a member of the Legislature’s Joint Select Committee on Tax Reform.

The full committee will be hosting a separate public comment hearing Oct. 20 in the House of Delegates chamber in Charleston, but Householder said he wanted to give people who don’t have time to make the drive to Charleston a chance to have their views heard.

“Eastern Panhandle residents have a unique perspective on the state’s tax climate, given our close proximity to Maryland and Virginia, and I want to make sure our area’s citizens are able to weigh in on this process,” Householder said.

All comments made at the hearing will be documented and recorded so they can be submitted to the full tax reform committee for their consideration. In addition to Householder, several members of the Eastern Panhandle’s legislative delegation, as well as legislative staff, will attend the town hall meeting.
