CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Delegate Charlotte Lane, R – Kanawha, announced today that she has been appointed as a special Government employee to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee.
The Energy Advisory Committee works to enhance leadership in electricity delivery modernization and offer senior-level assistance to the Department of Energy.
“I am honored to have been appointed to this committee to help plan the nation’s energy future,” Delegate Lane said. “Our nation’s energy infrastructure is the backbone to our economy and we need a strong, reliable electricity grid to power our country’s job creators.”
The committee provides direction to Department of Energy, on how the nation can handle challenges in the future concerning electricity reliability and developing issues related to capacity, production, delivery, and security.
As a special Government employee, Delegate Lane’s responsibilities will include providing advice on the various aspects of electricity, as well as regulatory/ratemaking. Her two-year term on the committee will end July 1, 2020.
Delegate Lane is a former commissioner for the West Virginia Public Service Commission. She also served from 2003 to 2011 as a commissioner for the U.S. International Trade Commission.
