Delegate Justin Marcum Proposes Three Percent Teacher Pay Raise

Charleston W.Va – Delegate Justin Marcum, D – Mingo, has announced his advocacy for Governor Justice’s proposed teacher’s pay raises but wants to take it a step farther.

“The governor wants to give the teachers a raise of two percent,” said Delegate Marcum. “Well, I propose three percent.”

Delegate Marcum further explained that he wants to take the money away from the bureaucrats in Charleston and away from the board offices in order to fund the raise.

“The teachers are the backbone of our education system, not the bureaucrats who don’t work in the classroom,” said Delegate Marcum. “It is time we put our money where our priorities lie.”

Delegate Marcum believes that his change will incentivize teachers to work in West Virginia, give local education more power to operate without bureaucratic hindrance, and give teachers the pay that they deserve.
