Charleston, WV - During the House Floor Session today, Minority Leader Tim Miley (D-Harrison) moved to table House Bill 2704, the Republican’s Historic Tax Increase Plan, which will add dozens of new taxes on West Virginia’s working families if passed. Delegate Miley’s effort to end this tax debacle was rejected by the majority of the Republican-led House. The first roll call vote (roll call 271) is attached. See how your delegate voted. However, after considering the public outrage over this tax hike legislation, House Republican leadership realized that Delegate Miley’s motion to kill this tax bill was the wise thing to do and moved to table the bill later during the same floor session. “I’m glad the Republican majority saw the value in the efforts of the Democratic minority to kill this historic tax increase bill,” Miley said. The legislation was tabled on a 92-2 vote by the House of Delegates. The second roll call vote (roll call 275) is attached. See how your delegate voted upon further consideration.
