CHARLESTON – Senator Greg Boso, R-Nicholas, this week sent a letter to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin to request emergency financial assistance for Webster County Memorial Hospital, which sustained serious structural damage during flash flooding earlier this month.
Senator Boso, a Registered Professional Engineer, recently visited the hospital with Town of Addison Mayor Don McCourt to assess the extent of the damage. Several of the hospital’s walls collapsed, and the hospital’s cooking and kitchen equipment were destroyed. In addition, the hospital’s water heating boiler circulation pumps and equipment were flooded.
In the letter, Senator Boso asks Governor Tomblin for quick assistance in correcting these problems.
“I ask that you favorably consider providing financial assistance from your available discretionary reserves to assist Webster County Memorial Hospital to repair the facility, restore dispensable items lost during the event and restore essential medical services,” Senator Boso wrote. “Further, I urge you to enlist the support of our federal delegation to timely assist in restoring these medical services as well as transportation and utility services to Webster County.”
