CHARLESTON, W.V. – Senator Rocky Fitzsimmons (D-Ohio) was honored this week with receiving the Governor’s Legislative Community Arts Award for his dedication and promotion of the arts in West Virginia.
“The arts are a vast subdivision of culture, composed of many creative endeavors and disciplines,” says Fitzsimmons. “The arts have been an important part of my life since childhood and have enhanced the quality of my life.”
Senator Fitzsimmons received the award Thursday during the annual Governor’s Arts Awards ceremony in Charleston.
“I am honored to receive this award, and as a state senator, I remain committed to ensuring that sufficient resources are provided to arts organizations.” says Fitzsimmons.
Senator Fitzsimmons’ district is home to several cultural landmarks including the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and the Capitol Theatre.
