Flood Recovery Meetings Scheduled in McMechen, Hundred

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Government and disaster response officials will host two community meetings next week to inform and assist citizens affected by this summer’s floods in northern West Virginia.

Representatives and elected officials from various federal, state and local government agencies will be on hand to provide information on flood relief efforts and answer residents’ questions about aid programs and recovery plans.

Representatives from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will discuss aid available to residents and small businesses to help them rebuild.

The first meeting will take place in McMechen on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department, located at 811 Marshall Street.

A second meeting will take place in Hundred on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hundred High School Auditorium, located at 3490 Hornet Highway.

Representatives expected to attend, provide information and answer questions include:

  • Major General James Hoyer, Adjutant General of the W.Va. National Guard
  • Jimmy Gianato, director of the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management
  • Representatives from the U.S. Sens. Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin’s offices.
  • Representatives from FEMA
  • Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Members of the state House of Delegates
  • Members of the state Senate
  • County officials
  • Local government officials

    Anyone affected by the recent flooding is encouraged to attend one of these meetings to learn about the assistance available to aid in their recovery efforts.
