CHARLESTON – Senator Ryan Ferns, R-Ohio, has been appointed Chairman of the Senate Labor Committee.
Senator Ferns also serves as Chairman of the Health and Human Resources Committee, Vice Chairman of the Economic Development and Judiciary committees, and as a member of the Banking and Insurance, Enrolled Bills, and Government Organization committees.
“Senator Ferns proved he was a dynamic leader during last year’s session, and I am proud to place him into this critical role,” Senate President Bill Cole, R-Mercer, said. “Labor issues are certainly at the forefront of this year’s agenda, and I know Ryan is exactly the kind of hard worker and take-charge kind of person this committee needs right now.”
“I am honored that the Senate President and my fellow colleagues in the Senate have the confidence in me to manage this important responsibility,” Senator Ferns said. “I look forward to serving in this new capacity in the upcoming legislative session.”
Ferns replaces Senator Daniel Hall, R-Wyoming, who resigned from the West Virginia State Senate on January 3. The regular session of the West Virginia Legislature begins January 13.
