SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
(By Senators Plymale, Minard, Jenkins, White, Williams, Wells,
Boley, Guills, Stollings, McCabe, Unger and Chafin)
Honoring John Joseph Kenneth Cole for his dedication and service in
the field of education in the State of West Virginia.
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole is the son of Burhl and
Billie Cole of Fairmont, West Virginia; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole was raised in Fairmont, West
Virginia, where he attended public schools and ran for a seat on
his local school board at the age of 19; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole earned two bachelor's
degrees in political science and history and graduated with honors
from West Virginia University; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole is currently serving as
Interim Chief of Staff to the Interim President of West Virginia
University; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole was a cocreator of the
Office of Service Learning at West Virginia University; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole was a member of Mountain
Honorary at West Virginia University; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole was awarded the prestigious
Truman Scholarship for public service as a junior student at West
Virginia University; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole earned his master's degree
at Ohio State University and is pursuing his doctorate degree in
education and public policy at the University of Michigan; and
Whereas, John Joseph Kenneth Cole has been a loyal, diligent
and tireless worker in various positions in state and local
government and the private sector, striving for the advancement of
education in West Virginia; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby honors John Joseph Kenneth Cole for his
dedication and service in the field of education in the State of
West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate extends its best wishes to
John Joseph Kenneth Cole for continued success and wishes him luck
on any future endeavors he may choose to pursue; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to John Joseph Kenneth Cole.
