SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 6

Requesting the Division of Highways name the portion of road located at CR 8 from the intersection with WV 214 to the intersection with Quall Hill Road, 37° 17' 13.42"" N, 81° 48' 40.64"" W, the "Orland Jackson ‘Tom’ Meikles Memorial Road".
Whereas, Orland Jackson "Tom" Meikles, a native of South Charleston, WV, lived a life of distinction worthy of being remembered; and
Whereas, Mr. Meikles rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant during his service under General Patton during WWII; and
Whereas, Mr. Meikles was involved in the invasion of France during D-Day and witnessed combat firsthand; and
Whereas, Mr. Meikles was awarded a Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Battle of the Bulge ribbon, and a Bronze Star ribbon as well spending time as a P.O.W; and
Whereas, Mr. Meikles was a lifelong member of the D.A.V Kanawha Chapter 28 and also a member of the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768; and
Whereas, Mr. Meikles lived a life of honor, distinction, and courage worthy of remembrance; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name the portion of road located at CR 8 from the intersection with WV 214 to the intersection with Quall Hill Rd., 37° 17' 13.42"" N, 81° 48' 40.64"" W, the "Orland Jackson ‘Tom’ Meikles Memorial Road"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the road as the "Orland Jackson ‘Tom’ Meikles Memorial Road"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
