HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 79

(By Delegates Marcum, White, Boggs, Perdue, Barrett, Tomblin,

         R. Phillips, Stowers, Lynch, Stephens and Reynolds)

 

 

Requesting the Division of Highways to name bridge number 30-119-0.01 on Route 119 in Mingo County, the "Joe Curtis (Joey) Dingess Memorial Bridge".

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess was born October 8, 1978 in Williamson to Curtis and Betty Chaffins Dingess; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess passed away on September 22, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center following a lingering illness; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess is survived by wife Cindy Murphy Dingess and his son Peyton Cole Dingess; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess was a 1997 graduate of Belfry High School and graduated from the Mingo County Vocational Technical Center where he was Student of the Year; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess was a fireman with the Williamson Fire Department, and a member and former president of the Hatfield Volunteer Fire Department; and

    Whereas, On September 22, 2010 the Hatfield Volunteer Fire Department retired Unit Number 2124 in honor and memory of Mr. Dingess; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess was a Master Mason 3rd degree, the O'Brien Lodge #101 AF&AM, the Beni Kedem Shrine, the Charleston Scottish Rite and the Tug Valley Shrine Club; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess ran the Childhood Language Bingo for the Childhood Language Center of Charleston for the Scottish Rite Masons; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess was a Superintendent for Kapourales Properties in Williamson; and

    Whereas, Mr. Dingess was a friend to Mingo County where he was an avid volunteer, community activist and never knew a stranger; and

    Whereas, It is fitting to honor Joe Curtis (Joey) Dingess for his commitment, dedication and service to his county and his state; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name bridge number 30-119-0.01 on Route 119 in Mingo County, the "Joe Curtis (Joey) Dingess Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "Joe Curtis (Joey) Dingess Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and the family of Joe Curtis (Joey) Dingess.
