HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 30

Requesting the Division of Highways name a bridge bearing the Bridge Number: 26-250/00-013.37  () (26A094), (39.84754, -80.55577) locally known as Clouston Bridge, carrying US 250 over North Fork Grave Creek in Marshall County as the "USAF A1C Jack L. Hart Memorial Bridge".

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart was born on July 13th, 1940, in Wheeling, West Virginia; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart was a 1958 graduate of Cameron High School, a 1977 graduate of the West Virginia State Police Academy, and a 1989 graduate of West Liberty (State College) University; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1965, with time spent in the Vietnam War; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart also served as Captain at the former West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville from 1972 to 1975; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart was a Deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department from 1975 until his retirement in 2000, serving in several capacities, including Sergeant, Chief of Detectives, State & Federal Drug Task Forces; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart served on the Cameron City Council for 12 years, and served in various capacities with the Cameron Methodist Church; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart was a member of the Cameron American Legion Post 18 and Cameron Masonic Lodge; and

Whereas, Jack Leonard Hart was a big fan of his Cameron Dragons, West Virginia Mountaineers & Pittsburgh Steelers; and

Whereas, Sadly, Jack Leonard Hart passed away on August 27, 2023; and

Whereas, For these reasons it is fitting and proper that the bridge be named in honor of Jack Leonard Hart; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name a bridge bearing the Bridge Number: 26-250/00-013.37  () (26A094), (39.84754, -80.55577) locally known as Clouston Bridge, carrying US 250 over North Fork Grave Creek in Marshall County as the "USAF A1C Jack L. Hart Memorial Bridge" and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Division of Highways is requested to erect signs at both ends of the bridge containing bold and prominent letters proclaiming the bridge as the "USAF A1C Jack L. Hart Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
