HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 117

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance authorize a study on continuing the Office of Emergency Medical Services as an independent office within the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety.

    Whereas, The Office of Emergency Medical Services is currently housed under the Bureau of Public Health within the Department of Health and Human Resources; and

    Whereas, The Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety employs experts in delivering emergency aid to people and communities of all sizes throughout the state; and

    Whereas, A reconstituted Office of Emergency Medical Services under the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety may help emergency services throughout West Virginia to be offered in the most efficient way possible; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby requested to study continuing the Office of Emergency Medical Services as an independent office within the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2015, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study and to prepare and draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
