A BILL to amend article five-s, chapter sixteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section twelve, relating to establishing a program for reprogramming cellular telephones and distributing to seniors without a cellular phone for making emergency calls.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article five-s, chapter sixteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section twelve, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5S. OLDER WEST VIRGINIANS ACT.
§16-5S-12. Cellular telephones for seniors without a cellular telephone for making emergency calls.

The commissioner shall establish a program for collecting used cellular telephones, from retailers, wholesalers, individuals or any other sources, to be reprogrammed and given to seniors that do not have a cellular phone for the making of emergency telephone calls.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to establish a program for collecting cellular telephones to be reprogrammed and distributing to seniors without a cellular phone for making emergency calls.
