A BILL to amend article two, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section three-a, relating to providing for the employment of technology troubleshooters.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article two, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section three-a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 2. SCHOOL PERSONAL.

§18A-2-3a. Employment of technology troubleshooters.

The county superintendent, subject to approval of the county
board, may employ and assign technology troubleshooters to any of the following duties: (a) To assist in the planning for and purchase of technologically sophisticated equipment or devices; (b) install, manage and repair technologically sophisticated equipment or devices; and (c) to train school personnel to use, handle or maintain technologically sophisticated equipment. For the purposes of this section, "technologically sophisticated equipment or devices" means electronic, computerized, telephonic, telescopic, radiographic or mechanical equipment or devices, the installation, repair or maintenance of which, require specialized technical, mechanical or scientific knowledge and expertise.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide for the employment of technology troubleshooters to assist school personnel in planning and purchasing technically sophisticated equipment. These troubleshooters could also install, maintain and repair the equipment as well as train school personnel in using and handling
it.
