SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 20

Directing the Joint Committee on Government Operations to make a study of enhanced emergency telephone systems (911) in the state.

Whereas, Counties around West Virginia have been implementing enhanced emergency telephone systems (911) to quickly and efficiently direct emergency calls which come from citizens in need; and
Whereas, It is in the best interests of the citizens of the state that the enhanced emergency telephone systems (911) in each county are efficient, reliable entities; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government Operations is hereby directed to review, examine and study the status efficiency and reliability of enhanced emergency telephone systems (911) in the state, including whether a need exists for enhanced emergency telephone systems (911) advisory boards to be established in each county, the need for additional and specific education and training for the enhanced emergency telephone systems (911) director and staff in each county and whether the need exists for additional revenue for enhanced emergency telephone systems (911); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on GovernmentOperations report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1994, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government Organization Operations.
