SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 13

Requesting the Department of Transportation, Division of
Highways, rename the highway in and around Morgantown,
Monongalia County, currently known as South University
Avenue as "Don Knotts Boulevard".
Whereas, Don Knotts, a native of Morgantown, Monongalia
County, West Virginia, is a beloved celebrity of television and
motion picture fame; and
Whereas, Don Knotts developed a distinctive acting style in
his roles as the man in the street on the first "Tonight Show"
with Steve Allen and as Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show";
and
Whereas, Don Knotts' movie and television career includes
long-running roles on "Three's Company" and "Matlock", and a
number of Disney films; and
Whereas, The citizens of Morgantown and the state of West
Virginia are proud of their native son, Don Knotts, and his
career achievements; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, is hereby requested to rename the highway in and around
Morgantown, Monongalia County, currently known as South
University Avenue as "Don Knotts Boulevard"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of
the Department of Transportation, the County Commission of
Monongalia County, the Mayor of Morgantown, and Don Knotts.
