A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §30-7-20, relating to
the development of a pilot program for unlicensed persons to
administer medications in a nursing home by the Board of
Registered Professional Nurses.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §30-7-20, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 7. REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSES.
§30-7-20. Pilot program.
The board shall develop a pilot program for unlicensed
personnel to administer medication in a nursing home including the
development of a training program in cooperation with the West Virginia Board of Practical Nurses and the West Virginia Health
Care Association. Prior to implementation of the pilot program,
the board shall provide its plans to the Select Committee on Health
for its consideration prior to the 2011 Legislative session.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize the board of
Registered Professional Nurses to develop a pilot program for
unlicensed personnel to administer medication in a nursing home.
