A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §21-5A-12, relating to eliminating the requirement of paying prevailing hourly rate of wages for construction of public improvements.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

            That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §21-5A-12, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 5A. WAGES FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS.

§21-5A-12. Termination of the requirements of this article.

            As of April 1, 2015, the provisions of this article no longer apply to state contracts for the construction of public improvements.

            (NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to eliminate the requirement to pay prevailing wages for construction of public improvements.

 

            §21-5A-12 is new; therefore, underscoring and strike-throughs have been omitted. )
