H. C. R. 7--"Renaming U. S. Route 22 Bypass in Weirton, West Virginia, the 'Robert C. Byrd Expressway.'"
Whereas , United States Senator Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia has represented his state and its people with courage, intelligence and effectiveness; and
Whereas , United States Senator Robert C. Byrd has distinguished himself within the United States Senate by providing outstanding leadership to that body during extremely difficult and perilous times in our nation's history; and
Whereas , As Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations, United States Senator Robert C. Byrd has secured the necessary funding for helping to improve the quality of life for all West Virginians, including working tirelessly to ensure that the State's roads and highways receive necessary federal assistance; and
Whereas , U. S. Route 22 Bypass at Weirton, West Virginia, would not have been built without the help and dedication of United States Senator Robert C. Byrd; and
Whereas , We wish to honor, commemorate and recognize the man and the work he has done on behalf of all of us; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That U. S. Route 22 Bypass in Weirton, West Virginia, is hereby named the "Robert C. Byrd Expressway"; and, be it
Further Resolved , That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor and to United States Senator Robert C. Byrd.
