H. C. R. 17--"Naming the bridge in the town of Carpendale in
Mineral County, West Virginia, the 'Doris Marks Bridge.'"
Whereas, Ms. Doris Marks is the beloved mayor of Carpendale;
and
Whereas, Ms. Doris Marks played an important role in
incorporating the Carpendale area; and
Whereas, Ms. Doris Marks secured a sewer system for the town
of Carpendale; and
Whereas, It is the desire of the citizens of Carpendale to
name the bridge in honor of their first and current mayor, Ms.
Doris Marks; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the bridge in the town of Carpendale in Mineral County,
West Virginia, be named the "Doris Marks Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Ms.
Doris Marks, the Governor and the Secretary of the Department of
Transportation.
