A BILL to amend article four, chapter eighteen-a of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
ten-c, relating to salaries, wages and other benefits for
educational employees; and additional compensation for
professional and service employees who are required to
attend certain activities on nonschool days.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article four, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
ten-c, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.
§18A-4-10c. Additional compensation for professional and service
employees.
Effective the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred
ninety-eight, county boards of education shall compensate
professional and service employees who are required to attend any
workshop, seminar or other training as part of his or her duties
as a contractual employee on any nonschool day. The compensation
provided by this section shall be at the same rate of pay on a
day-to-day basis that the employee receives as a contract
employee.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to compensate
professional and service educational employees for workshops,
training, etc. which they are required to attend on nonschool
days.
