A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §30-3-18, relating to
prohibiting healthcare providers from discriminating against
or refusing treatment of a patient regardless of how that
person was injured or became ill.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §30-3-18, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 3. WEST VIRGINIA MEDICAL PRACTICE ACT.
§30-3-18. Discriminatory practices by healthcare providers
__prohibited.
_____No healthcare provider may discriminate, in any manner,
against or refuse to treat any person based upon the manner by which that person became injured or sick.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit healthcare
providers from discriminating against or refusing treatment to
persons based upon the manner by which they were injured.
This section is new; therefore, it has been completely
underscored.
