A BILL to amend article three, chapter seventeen-c of the code
of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
ten, relating to providing that the state division of
highways erect roadway signs alerting motorists to areas
where school buses routinely change directions or enter
roadways or highways.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article three, chapter seventeen-c of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section ten,
to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. TRAFFIC SIGNS, SIGNALS AND MARKINGS.
§17C-3-10. Signs to be placed to alert motorists to roadways
routinely traveled by school buses.
The state division of highways shall erect roadway signs inareas routinely traveled by school buses transporting pupils to
and from any preschool, primary or secondary school alerting
motorists to areas on or along the roadway where (1) school buses
are required to turn around and change directions, or (2) school
buses enter roadways or highways. Such roadway signs shall
exhibit prominently the words "School Bus Turn-Around Ahead" and
"School Bus Entering Highway Ahead."
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide that the state
road commission erect roadway signs alerting motorists to areas
where school buses routinely change direction or enter roadways
or highways.
