§49-7-4. Placing children in infirmaries.
A child shall not be placed in a county infirmary or similar
institution for other than temporary care. When a child is so
placed, written notification shall be given to the state department
not later than three days after the child enters the infirmary.
When a mentally defective child is so placed, notice shall be given
to the state commissioner of public institutions.
A superintendent of an infirmary or other institution who
fails to notify the state department or the state commissioner of
public institutions, as the case may be, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor.
