§49-2-3. Development of standards of child care.
The state department shall be responsible for the development
of desirable standards for the care of children. To this end, it
shall cooperate with, advise and assist all child welfare agencies,
including state institutions, which care for neglected, delinquent,
or mentally or physically handicapped children, and shall supervise
all such agencies. The department, in cooperation with the state
department of health and with child welfare agencies, shall
formulate and make available standards of child care and services
for children, to which all child welfare agencies must conform.
