The West Virginia Legislature is seeking candidates for the position of Clerk of the West Virginia Legislative Claims Commission (named the WV Court of Claims until July 9, 2017). The Clerk serves as the administrator of the Legislative Claims Commission, which hears and decides cases against state agencies and regarding the WV Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund. Working under the Commissioners, the Clerk fulfills the statutory duties contained in West Virginia Code §14-2-5. The Clerk is required to maintain all records and proceedings of the commission, attend meetings and hearings of the commission, administer oaths and affirmations, and issue official summonses, subpoenas, orders, statements and awards. The position requires the successful candidate be licensed to practice law in West Virginia, and possess relevant experience, management skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Joint Committee on Government & Finance - Public Information Office, State Capitol

The Public Information Office of the West Virginia Legislature is seeking an experienced Web Developer to join our team in Charleston.  Working with the web development team, this position will develop, test, deploy and support applications and dynamic webpages for the users of the West Virginia Legislature’s website. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant work experience and knowledge in programming, database development and design.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, HTML5, CSS3, SQL & MySQL, PHP, Javascript, VBA, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS: Audio/video live streaming, Wowza streaming server, responsive development, Adobe ColdFusion, Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator), JQuery, JQuery-Mobile, ActionScript, Microsoft Server and XSLT.
