A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §24-1-10, relating to requiring the Director of the Consumer Advocate Division of the Public Service Commission be appointed by the Governor with advice and consent of the Senate.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §24-1-10, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS.

§24-1-10. Governor to appoint director of Consumer Advocate Division.

    The director of the Consumer Advocate Division shall be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. The person appointed by the commission shall continue to serve until appointed or replaced by the Governor’s appointee. The term of appointment shall be for four years, mirroring the Governor’s normal four-year term of office.



    NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require that the director of the Consumer Advocate Division of the Public Service Commission be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
