Requesting the Division of Highways name a portion of 4.3-mile bypass from Tuckers Run to Middle Fork on US 33, in Roane County, the "Scott Miller Bypass Road".
Whereas, W. Scott Miller (born 1853), for whom the area was named, was too young to be involved in the Civil War, and too to serve in WW I. His grandson Scott W. Miller (born 1927) served in WW II and was killed in action at Normandy on July 24,1944. Scott W. Miller received a Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal for his actions at Normandy; and
Whereas, It is fitting that an enduring memorial be established to commemorate W. Scott Miller and Scott W. Miller and their contributions to our state and country; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name a portion of 4.3-mile bypass from Tuckers Run to Middle Fork on US 33, in Roane County, the "Scott Miller Bypass Road"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs at both ends identifying the portion of road as the "Scott Miller Bypass Road"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
