HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 53
(By Delegates Manchin, Longstreth and Caputo)
Requesting the bridge in Mannington, West Virginia on old Route
250, specifically bridge number 25-250/81-1.21, be named the
"Fletcher Brothers Memorial Bridge."
Whereas, Warren, William, John, James and George Fletcher were
all born and raised in West Virginia; and
Whereas, Warren, William, John and James were enlisted in the
United States Army; and
Whereas, George was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps;
and
Whereas, All five of the Fletcher brothers were honorably
discharged from the military after faithful and courageous service
to their state and country during World War II; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name
bridge number 25-250/81-1.21 in Mannington, West Virginia on Old
Route 250 the "Fletcher Brothers Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Division of
Highways is hereby requested to cause to be fabricated signs to be
erected at each entryway of the bridge, containing bold and
prominent letters proclaiming the bridge to be named the "Fletcher Brothers Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of
the Division of Highways and the surviving family of the five
Fletcher Brothers.
