HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 105

Requesting the Division of Highways to name bridge number 20-53-2.52 on County Route 53, Wills Creek Road, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, the “Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles Memorial Bridge”.

    Whereas, Lewis Dayton Moles was born on June 19, 1949, the son of the late John Delbert and Sylvia Mae Shafer Moles; and

    Whereas, Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles was inducted into the United States Department of the Army on April 2, 1969, and began his tour of duty in Vietnam on February 28, 1970; and

    Whereas, Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles was killed in action in Vietnam on August 8, 1970; and

    Whereas, Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroism with First Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct Medal on November 5, 1970; and

    Whereas, Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles was also posthumously awarded the Military Merit Medal and the Gallantry Cross with Palm on October 22, 1971; and

    Whereas, Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles served his country and his state with honor and distinction and gave the ultimate sacrifice; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name bridge number 20-53-2.52 on County Route 53, Wills Creek Road, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, the “Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles Memorial Bridge”; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Division of Highways is hereby requested to erect signs at both ends of the bridge containing bold and prominent letters proclaiming the bridge the “Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles Memorial Bridge”; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the clerk of the House of Delegates forward certified copies of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways and to Specialist Fourth Class Lewis Dayton Moles’ his surviving family members, Gary Lee Moles, Gary Michael Moles, Andrew Dayton Moles, and Jared Michael Moles.
