A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-5-18f, relating to county boards of education; licensed school psychologists; and providing that maximum licensed school psychologist-pupil ratio is one thousand five hundred pupils for each licensed school psychologist.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-5-18f, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 5.  COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.


§18-5-18f.  Licensed school psychologists; maximum pupil ratio.


(a) A licensed school psychologist means a professional who holds a license in accordance with article twenty-one, chapter thirty of this code or who is the holder of a school psychology certificate or permit issued by the West Virginia Department of Education.

(b) Each county board that provides licensed school psychologist services for each pupil enrolled in the public schools of the county shall provide by the school year 2021-2022, and after that, sufficient licensed school psychologist services and personnel that will ensure that there is no more than a one thousand five hundred pupil ratio for each licensed school psychologist in the county.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide that the maximum licensed school psychologist-pupil ratio is one thousand five hundred pupils for each licensed school psychologist.
