A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-4-22, relating to candidates for professional employee positions involving supervision of a county transportation department; making any service employee who is certified as a Director or Supervisor of Pupil Transportation by the National Association for Pupil Transportation Certification an eligible candidate and requiring county boards to consider such candidates.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-4-22, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.


§18A-4-22. Eligibility and consideration of service personnel with NAPT Certification for transportation supervision positions.

(a) A service employee who is certified as a Director or Supervisor of Pupil Transportation by the National Association for Pupil Transportation is eligible for any professional employee position involving supervision of a county transportation department.

(b) If a county board posts a professional employee position involving supervision of a county transportation department, the county board shall consider any applicant for the position who is a service employee and who is certified as a Director or Supervisor of Pupil Transportation by the National Association for Pupil Transportation.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to make service employees with National Association for Pupil Transportation Certification as a Director or Supervisor of Pupil Transportation eligible as candidates for professional employee positions involving supervision of a county transportation department and requiring county boards to consider such candidates.
