CHARLESTON, W.Va--Senator Bob Williams (D-Taylor) has been named by Senate President Jeffery Kessler to serve as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Economic Development.

“I am honored and humbled by President Kessler’s confidence in my ability to lead the Senate’s Economic Development Committee. Economic Development is an extremely important area for our state and it is my goal to focus the committee’s efforts in ways that we may allow for the growth of small business and create policy that will foster a climate in West Virginia that will lead to the creation of good jobs,” said Williams.

Senator Bob Williams (D-Taylor) was appointed the chairman of the Senate Committee on Economic Development and will continue to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee of Agriculture. He will also serve on the Senate’s Judiciary, Government Organization, Natural Resources and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees.

Williams stated “I am looking forward to the upcoming legislative session. I believe education reform, prison overcrowding, economic development and the budget will be the focus of the Legislature this session.””
