The West Virginia Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority, along with Senator Jon Blair Hunter (D-14th Senatorial District), is pleased to announce the approval of funding for the several county courthouses in the 14th Senatorial District. The funding has been allocated to assist in making improvements and repairs to Barbour, Mineral and Preston counties’ courthouses. “I am very pleased to see this allocation of state funds,” stated Senator Hunter. “I would like to personally thank the West Virginia Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority for their hardwork and dedication in assisting these counties and securing the funding necessary to improve the courthouses.” Funding has been allocated as follows: Barbour County Courthouse - $30,712 - for roof repairs Mineral County Courthouse - $80,000 - for foundation and wall repairs Preston County Courthouse - $80,000 - for heating and cooling ventilation repairs In July 2001 the West Virginia Legislature passed legislation creating the West Virginia Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority to evaluate the needs of all 55 courthouses and estimate the potential costs of improvements. These improvements included building repairs and rehabilitation, renovation, security controls, and the storage of documents. |
