Charleston, WV - Mingo County Delegates Harry Keith White (D-21st District) and Steve Kominar (D-20th District) were pleased to announce with Governor Earl Ray Tomblin the presentation of Community Participation Projects (CPP) grant money to the Mingo County Commission, and the towns of Red Jacket, Matewan and Kermit.
“Delegate Kominar and myself fully realize the impact this funding has at the local level; whether the goal is to fill a funding gap needed to move a project to completion or fund a worthy project in whole,” said Delegate White. “With Governor Tombiln’s support we are able to make these presentation to these worthy causes and advance these projects toward finality.”
The CPP grants are awarded as follows:
Mingo County Commission receives a total of $20,500 as follows: $5,000 for the Mountaineer Development Corporation $10,000 for the Shooting Range at Laurel Lake $2,000 for a covered walking area at the Mingo Animal Control Facility $2,000 for a boat ramp for Tug River Access $1,500 to the Gilbert Little League.
Town of Red Jacket receives $50,000 for the repair of the sewage system.
Town of Matewan is awarded $27,500 as follows: $25,000 for the improvement of the Town Hall and the Coal Heritage Park $2,500 for the All Year Class Year Reunion
The Town of Kermit receives $25,000 for the Pump Station.
“In working with Governor Tomblin over the years first as a legislator and now in his role as Governor I know he understands the many challenges facing rural Southern West Virginia,” said Delegate Kominar. “I appreciate all the work his staff and he have put into these efforts which Delegate White and myself believe are vital to the continued development and economic recovery of Mingo County.”
