Senate President Bill Cole issued the following statement after the West Virginia Board of Education voted to repeal the Next Generation Content Standards and Objectives during its meeting today: I have had ongoing discussions with State Board of Education President Mike Green about the need for West Virginia to get the review and adoption of its new education standards right. We will continue to work with the Board prior to the Legislative session to ensure that our standards match up with other high-performing states. Ultimately, we must do what is right for our children, and we must improve achievement in basic areas such as math, science, and reading.
