Senate Clerk Clark Barnes ;

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to Hold Public Meetings on Atlantic Coast Pipeline Project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will be holding public meetings to gather input for a Draft Environmental Impact Statement after Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC filed their application to build and operate the Atlantic Coast Pipeline project. This project proposes the construction of a 564-mile pipeline along with compressor stations and various auxiliary facilities for the transportation of natural gas.

West Virginia counties that would be affected by the proposed pipeline include Harrison, Lewis, Upshur, Randolph and Pocahontas. Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC states that they are committed to seeking a voluntary agreement with each landowner whose property is crossed by the pipeline. Atlantic typically will seek an easement which allows the landowner to retain ownership and use of the property as long as it does not interfere in the operation of the pipeline.

Contact the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for specific dates and times of the public hearings at 1-866-208-3372 or www.ferc.gov/industries/gas.asp. You may also obtain a copy of their pamphlet “What Do I Need to Know” and “Landowner Rights” by contacting their office.
