Senator Williams Announces Grant Awards to Various Programs in the 14th Senatorial District

State Senator Bob Williams has announced the awarding of grants to various programs in the 14th Senatorial District.

The grants awarded include:

-$2,000 to support the programs at the Taylor County Public Library. Funds may be used to purchase materials to support movie events, art classes, story hours and/or programming provided by the library.

-$2,500 to the Taylor County Commission to support repairs to the M & M Building to assist with the cost of renovations and repairs to the building.

-$2,000 to support the programs at the Belington Public Library. Funds may be used to purchase equipment including computers, servers, printer, and other equipment needed by the library.

- $5,000 to Adaland Mansion to assist with the installation of a gas line and other improvements.

- $4,500 to assist with the installation of a new telephone system and other improvements to the Hardy County Courthouse.

-$2,000 to support the programs at the Five Rivers Public Library. Funds may be used to purchase materials including books, movies, supplies and other materials needed by the library.

-$2,000 to support the programs at the Mineral County Public Library. Funds may be used to purchase equipment including computers, servers, printer, and other equipment needed by the library.

A grant was also awarded to the Trout for Cheat Program in the amount of $20,000. Funds from the grant may be used to purchase and stock trout in the Cheat River. Senator Williams stated, “I am very pleased, along with Governor Tomblin and Senator Sypolt, to be able to support this program. This program has been and will continue to be a wonderful success story for the development of tourism in Preston County.”

Another grant awarded in the amount of $5,000 will support the Hardy County 4-H Camp. Williams stated, “I am very pleased, along with Governor Tomblin, to be able to support youth activities throughout the 14th Senatorial District. This grant will assist the Hardy County 4-H Camp Board to continue the great work they do in the community.” According to the grant documents, the funds may be used for camp improvements including the installation of energy efficient lights, security lights, and other improvements which may be needed.

Each of these grants were requested by Senator Williams through the Governor’s Community Participation Grant Program.
