Senate Select Committee Meeting in Wood County

Charleston, WV - August 8, 2013 - West Virginia Senate Majority Leader and Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Children and Poverty John Unger, (D-Berkeley), announced that the Senate committee, along with the Joint Select Committee on Children and Other Issues, will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. on August 20th at Jefferson Elementary Center, 1103 Plum Street, Parkersburg, WV.

"I am very excited that Senator Unger is bringing the Select Committee on Children and Poverty to Wood County during our August interims. I hope there is a good turnout to discuss the needs of our children here in the 3rd District," said Senator Donna Boley, (R-Pleasants), "Senator Unger and his committee want a dialogue with the parents, teachers, children and the general public. I urge all that can to come to the meeting."

The 3rd Senatorial District consists of Pleasants, Wirt and Wood Counties, as well as part of Roane County.

"As the Select Committee travels around the state, we especially would like to welcome the members to the 3rd District," said Senator David Nohe, (R-Wood), "We want to see what is really needed in our community so people don't fall through the cracks, what resources are out there besides government, and reach the children who need it most!"

The public is invited and encouraged to attend and participate.
