SENATE PASSES BILL TO FUND STATE PARK IMPROVEMENTS

Charleston, WV - The Cacapon Resort and Beech Fork State Parks may soon have funds to improve and expand their facilities after the West Virginia Senate passed Senate Bill 362 today.

The bill authorizes the West Virginia Economic Development Authority to issue $52.5 million in bonds to be used for capital improvements at the two state parks. Cacapon Resort State Park would receive $23 million to renovate 48 rooms and add 85 new rooms and conference facilities. “The Eastern Panhandle is in need of more conference facilities - a challenge this bill addresses. I know the positive impact this legislation will have on the Eastern Panhandle and I commend Senator Snyder for all the hard work he put into the bill,” said Senate Majority Leader John Unger II (D - Berkeley), co-sponsor of Senate Bill 362.

The bonds would be issued as lottery revenue bonds from the State Excess Lottery Revenue Fund, and the proceeds would be placed into the State Park Improvement Fund.

Senate Bill 362 was sent to the House of Delegates upon passage.
