CHARLESTON, WV – Acting Senate President Jeff Kessler (D – Marshall) announced today that the Senate Redistricting Task Force will hold its fourth open forum this weekend in Marion County. “These public informational meetings are providing Task Force members the opportunity to hear from residents on how they think their districts should be arranged,” says Kessler. “We encourage the public to attend and express their ideas and concerns in order to make this process as open and transparent as possible.” The Senate Redistricting Task force was put in place earlier this year following the release of West Virginia’s population statistics by the U.S. Census Bureau. “As we continue to move through this open process I encourage not only the public, but members of the House of Delegates to attend as well,” says Senate Majority Leader John Unger (D-Berkeley), Chairman of the Task Force. “Each delegate has been personally invited to attend these meetings, and I continue to urge them to stay informed and engaged in this redistricting process.” The Senate Redistricting Task Force meeting will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Marion County Courthouse, Division #1 Courtroom on the third floor. The meeting is free and open to the public. |
